Periodic Inspection Report: Solar Light Towers – West Texas Winter

December 2024 Light Tower and Security Camera Equipment Inspection

Executive Summary

Our team conducted routine inspections of our towable light towers and security cameras across the oilfields of West Texas. The inspection covered Midland, Odessa, Monahans, and the Kermit area during short, cold, and cloudy winter days – ideal conditions for evaluating the performance of our portable solar equipment.

We paid close attention to the light towers with cameras that support the groundbreaking Dune Express project – America’s longest conveyor belt system.

This report details our findings and confirms the reliability of our solar light towers and security solutions maintaining continuous operation despite the short winter days.

Location Overview:

Site 1: Dune Express Laydown Yard

  • The site contains the longest conveyor belt system in the USA
  • The 42-mile conveyor runs from Kermit, Texas to New Mexico
  • Primary function: Sand delivery to New Mexico oil companies

Site 2: Mine Access Road

In early 2023, we deployed four light towers for construction sites to address critical safety concerns on a remote mine access road experiencing frequent truck accidents. The installation combined the GP43 and Mine Spec GP125 units, which were strategically placed to illuminate the corners of the road where high-speed traffic posed significant risks. After 18 months of continuous operation, our inspection confirmed flawless performance despite heavy dust exposure and severe weather the units were clean and showed no signs of wear.

The operational impact has been substantial as well: beyond enhancing road safety, these units eliminated the need for diesel, removing 26,000 gallons of fuel consumption and 324 metric tons of CO2 emissions. With zero maintenance (NO oil changes, No diesel refueling, No troubleshooting and NO staff needed to turn on/off) the reduced requirements of the automatic system are apparent.

This remote construction site installation demonstrates how our solar solutions deliver both environmental and operational benefits while addressing crucial safety challenges in remote locations.

Location Overview

  • High-traffic concrete road with two corners
  • Speed limit: 43 mph
  • No existing electrical infrastructure
  • History of truck rollover accidents at night

Equipment Inspection

Systems Deployed:

  • 2x GP43 solar light towers
  • 2x Mine Spec GP125 solar light towers
  • Installation date: Early 2023
  • Duration of service: 18 months; 574 days

Installation Assessment

  • Correct solar panel orientation (south-facing)
  • Proper leveling
  • Appropriate road distance
  • Optimal light direction

Current Condition

  • All units remained in their original positions, still level
  • Excellent operational condition
  • Minor dust accumulation from traffic and storms
  • No corrosion or unusual signs of wear
  • Automatic functionality (night activation, sunrise deactivation)

Cost Savings Analysis & Environmental Impact

18-Month Performance Metrics
